On April 23-24, 2025, Bishkek hosted a seminar within the framework of the Technical Assistance Mission (TAM seminar) on "Strengthening cooperation between universities in Europe and Central Asia." The seminar was attended by heads of universities, National Offices of Erasmus+ and members of National Teams of Experts on higher Education reform in Central Asian countries. Over the course of two days, participants exchanged ideas, established new contacts, and laid the foundations for long-term academic collaboration based on the principles of sustainability, innovation, and shared goals.

The national team of experts on higher education reform in Kazakhstan was represented by Alibek Madibekov, Deputy Director of the National Center for Higher Education Development of Kazakhstan, and Rauza Mendaliyeva, Head of the Department for Internationalization of Higher Education at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During his presentation, Alibek Madibekov noted the urgent need for coordinated and innovative academic approaches that would promote closer integration of educational institutions in Europe and Central Asia.

The invited experts at the seminar were Ann Catherine Isaacs, former Co-Chair of the Bologna Forum Coordination Group (BFUG) on Global Policy Dialogue and Implementation of the Bologna Process, and Ulrike Cravanja, Head of Joint Degree Programs, University of Graz, Austria.

Interactive seminars and joint working sessions provided participants with a platform to discuss the creation of joint educational programs, university development strategies and the implementation of the Bologna Process. Attention was paid not only to structural changes, but also to the adaptation of educational systems to international standards, taking into account the peculiarities of Central Asia.

The event ended with the adoption of a joint resolution aimed at strengthening academic partnership between the countries of Europe and Central Asia. The document reflects both the general principles of cooperation and specific commitments that will serve as the basis for future educational initiatives, policy coordination and the implementation of joint projects.
