On 22 December 2023, the NEO KZ held an Information Day at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in Almaty with the participation of HE Kestutis Jankauskas, Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Kazakhstan, and Shaizada Tasbulatova, former Coordinator NEO KZ. Opening speeches were also given by Aktolkyn Kulsariyeva, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalisation at Abai University, and Gulzhan Jarassova, Deputy Chair of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with around 120 participants present offline and 97 joining online, representing over 50 higher education institutions from across Kazakhstan. Ambassador Jankauskas highlighted Kazakhstan’s remarkable achievements in the Erasmus+ programme and the great opportunities it offers. In 2023, the programme benefited more than 280 students and 200 scientists from Kazakhstan. He stressed that the EU is open to cooperation with Kazakhstan. At the opening ceremony of Infoday, NEO KZ Coordinator Laura Paluanova presented the new Erasmus+ call for 2024, highlighting the innovations introduced this year.
The opening ceremony paved the way for parallel sessions covering Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE), Jean Monnet, International Credit Mobility (ICM), Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) for HEIs and EMJM for students. Renowned speakers from experienced HEIs shared valuable insights gained during their participation in the Erasmus+ programme. In addition, HERE team shared their experiences in the field of internationalization and digitalization in HEIs with Infoday participants.
