Algorithm of actions for HEIs that wish to participate in Erasmus Mundus

There is no straightforward and universal algorithm of actions. However, the following algorithm can help you better structure your preparation for the process.

1. Researching EMJM course catalogue & identification of a potential master programme to offer under EMJM or to develop under EMDM

It is highly recommended to start the preparation for any call under the Erasmus+ programme with researching the Erasmus+ Programme Guide that gives thorough information about the objectives and priorities of all actions. The Programme Guide is available in “Helpful materials on Erasmus Mundus” section and in “Useful resources” section of our website. It is also recommended to watch the recordings of the infosessions held by the NEO KZ on this specific action. Links are available in the “Helpful materials on Erasmus Mundus” section.

In order to understand what programs are implemented under EMJM and what consortia there are, it is recommended to look through current EMJM projects. Links to current projects are available in the “Helpful materials on Erasmus Mundus” section. Kazakhstani HEIs may join existing consortia or new consortia on the implementation of EMJM programmes. For that, it is necessary to identify a master programme that an HEI can offer in order to join EMJM consortium. It is usually recommended to offer areas not yet covered by existing programmes and involve less represented EU Member States or third countries associated to the Programme.

As for EMDM, since it is about the development of a new master programme jointly with a consortium, after researching the abovementioned materials, an HEI should identify what master programme it is planning to develop jointly with a consortium. It is usually recommended to offer areas not yet covered by existing programmes and involve less represented EU Member States or third countries associated to the Programme.

2. Negotiations with partners on EMJM/EMDM project proposal

After identifying a potential master programme, that an HEI is planning to implement or develop, it should contact relevant partners from the EU Member States or third countries associated to the Programme and start discussing the opportunity to participate in EMJM/EMDM.

3. Preparation of EMJM/EMDM project proposals

Preparation of the project proposal is a collaborative responsibility of the entire consortium. Therefore, Kazakhstani HEI in case of acting as a partner should provide the coordinating university with necessary information for the project proposal on time.

4. Submission of EMJM/EMDM project proposals

Before the call is announced we invite you:

  • to take part in online infosessions held by the EACEA during which you will receive the latest updates about the call and helpful tips on preparing a competitive project proposal.

  • to research the latest Erasmus+ Programme Guide, which is updated annually after the call is announced.

After the call is announced please read the call documents, application form, budget table and attend the NEO KZ information and training sessions.

The project proposal is submitted by the Coordinating university on FTP. It is highly recommended to complete the submission process well ahead of the deadline.

5. EMJM/EMDM selection results

As a rule, the selection results are out in late July or early August every year. Coordinating university and all members of the consortium will receive a notification on FTP. The NEO KZ will also post the selection results on its website and social media channels.

6. Signing of declaration & grant agreement & start of EMJM/EMDM project

In case the project is selected for funding, all members of the consortium are expected to sign necessary documents on FTP. Please contact the NEO KZ in case of facing difficulties in signing the documents. After all due documents are signed, the project starts.
