Pre-departure orientation session for EMJM 2023 students

On August 24, 2023, the NEO KZ, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized a pre-departure orientation session for the recipients of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJM) scholarship programme.

The event was honored by the presence of ambassadors from several EU Member States, including Belgium, Spain, Slovakia, Estonia, Portugal, and Finland. The session commenced with a welcome address by the Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan, His Excellency Mr. Kęstutis Jankauskas, who extended his congratulations to the scholarship awardees. In his remarks, he emphasized their important role as informal ambassadors of Kazakhstan abroad and wished them every success in their academic and personal journeys.

Additional congratulatory messages were delivered by Her Excellency Ms. Beatriz Muñoz González, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Spain in Kazakhstan, and His Excellency Mr. Henri Vantieghem, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Kazakhstan, both of whom expressed their strong support for academic exchange and international cooperation.

The event also featured inspiring testimonials from EMJM alumni Ms. Ulzhan Zhumakeldi and Ms. Nadira Mukhamejan, who shared their academic experiences in Europe and offered practical advice and encouragement to the new cohort of scholars.

In 2023, 53 citizens of Kazakhstan were awarded scholarships under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programme—one of the European Union’s most competitive and distinguished international education initiatives.

The NEO KZ congratulates all recipients and extends its best wishes for a successful and enriching academic experience in Europe.
